RELAXATION TECHNIQUES.

 


Being able to relax well is essential for a healthy lifestyle.

So in light of this, I want to share some relaxation techniques with you.

It is my desire that you are able to integrate them into your daily lives.

Shall we?

 

(It is advisable to put on loose fitting clothes before you begin all of this.)

 

1. Lay down on your bed or sit comfortably on a chair.

If you’re using a chair for this exercise, ensure it is one that doesn’t make you bend your back.

(Don’t be in a rush to do this. You might want to dedicate 30 minutes to this.)

Pick a pleasant memory that brings you joy and replay it all. Close your eyes and allow yourself feel everything you felt that day. If you do this right, you can as much smell the things you perceived that day. E.g- the smell of the beach and the flowers surrounding it.

It is important that I add that it doesn’t have to be a memory, it can be something you’re looking forward to. 

Dedicate 15 minutes to this and when you’re done, don’t be quick to jump up and continue your activities. Spend at least another 5 minutes to bask in the after effects.

This techniques is one of the widely used relaxation techniques. 

It helps you relax (dhurr), regain strength, focus and put things in perspective, it also elevates your mood, should you feel sad.

 

 

2. When you find yourself agitated and your heart begins to beat fast, take this breathing exercise.

1 long inhale 

1 long exhale 

Repeat this 10 times.

It helps calm your nervous system and also allows you make better decisions whenever you’re riled up.

 

 

3. This is one of my favorites and it is compulsory you lay down for this to enable full relaxation mode.

Begin to work your muscles from your feet up to your hands.

Just twist and flex them. Do it slowly and be relaxed while doing this.

I advise you close your eyes to enable you enjoy the process.

It helps relax your muscles and makes you feel a whole lot better.

 

 

4. Journaling– write down how you feel, the changes you’re experiencing in your life, your goals and basically everything that your inner man tells you to. The thing I love about journaling is that it exposes you to the things that you don’t even know about yourself.

 

 

5. Turn off- don’t think of anything, just lay in bed and focus on having a good night sleep. Do away with your electronic gadgets and ensure you’re comfortable. Take a shower, it helps.

All these are Autogenic- which means no one has to do it for you.
